PUC Founder Connects China and Malaysia With a New Mobile Platform for Shoppers

Kuala Lumpur, 12th June 2014 – PUC Founder (MSC) Berhad (“PUC Founder”), wholly-owned subsidiary Red Hot Media Group Sdn Bhd, has signed a licensing agreement with Hainan Xin Ze Tong Ying Co. Ltd to offer the latter’s unique mobile platform to benefit shoppers in Malaysia. The new mobile platform is called “ShopInfo”. It is a new mobile platform that helps shoppers find the best shopping deals within the radius of their real time location.

The signing ceremony, was graced by The Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of The People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Mr. Wu Zheng Ping. PUC Founder had added a new chapter that brings Malaysia and China to a closer relationship.   This signifies another milestone to the 40-year old bilateral relationship between Malaysia and China.

ShopInfo allows shopping mall or merchants to promote their product or services to shoppers who love using mobile phone or tablets. Besides providing a comprehensive list of shopping places, shoppers will receive a notification on where to look for best deals nearby, or where to shop based on best recommendation posted by fellow platform users. Shoppers are guided online to “must visit” a physical store off-line. Hence, it is commonly refer to as O2O service.

With this collaboration, shoppers from China can come to Malaysia to shop at ease and vice versa. The platform combines the resources of both countries to allow platform user easy access to best local deals at wherever they are in China or Malaysia. This will enhance the shopping experience of visitors from the both countries, and generate more business to local shopping malls or merchants of the both countries.

To-date, Shopinfo is present in several major cities in China. Among them are Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing.  PUC Founder will launch ShopInfo in Malaysia soon to target more than 150 shopping malls in just Klang Valley alone.

PUC Founder viewed that this collaboration probably comes at the best time to materialize what Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, has agreed with China’s President Xi Jinping recently to have more comprehensive strategic partnership, especially in areas of trade and economic cooperation.

“I am confident that this collaboration will contribute directly to the G2G agreement which aims to improve ICT and investment cooperation between Malaysia and China”, PUC Founder Managing Director, Mr. Cheong Chia Chieh said.

Shopinfo is one of the 3-pillars of convergence that PUC Founder has planned to grow the business forward.  It is an important business unit that complements the ecosystem of the Company’s digital business to be a leading player in the market.
